Confluence Announcement Banner?

I use the Jira Announcement Banner (under Look and Feel) along with a different colour scheme to differentiate Test from Prod for our users.

The string I have in Jira is as follows:

<div class="global-warning" width="100%" align="center" <H1> <font color=#990000> JIRA2 (TEST)</div> </font> </H1>

Would someone please advise where/how I do the equivalent in Confluence? (I am running 4.1.6).

Hi Stuart,

As Andrew said, you can add this in your Custom HTML (to get there: Browse -> Confluence Admin -> Look and Feel -> Custom HTML), but please make to add it to the 'At beginning of the BODY' section.

Cheers,
Lachlan

There's a slight visual bug when doing this. When you scroll up and down a page quickly, the left-sidebar has a tendency to shift up and become misaligned with the rest of the page. Any tricks on fixing that?

Have you tried to use the Annou cement Banner for Confluence app? Do you experience thia bug as well?

I did test it, and it doesn't exhibit the bug.

I also experience this issue in Confluence. The top of the space sidebar renders over the confluence header. Did you find a solution?

Hi,

If you log in to Confluence as an administrator and select Browse -> Confluence Admin -> Look and Feel -> Custom HTML and insert your HTML string in the "At End of HEAD" section that will give you a global banner above the main breadcrumb navigation.

Hope that helps,

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

Adding to the "End of HEAD" section is actually incorrect. The HEAD section is for metadata rather than rendered content. Instead, please use the "At beginning of the BODY".

Hey Andrew,

As Lachlan mentions, "At End of HEAD" actually means "within" the page header, which can't be used to display page layout elements such as a <div>. In light of this, I'm using my super-duper admin powers to un-mark this as the accepted answer and mark Lachlan's as accepted instead.

Mainly, we want to provide correct information for future readers of this question. Other than that, your answer is spot-on! :-)

Joe.

In Confluence 5.8 or upper,
You can use 'Announcement Banner for Confluence' a FREE app which mimics JIRA's announcement banner behaviour.

For banners via the out of the box functionality, the other posters have it spot on (make sure to put it at the top of the body as commenters have said.

However, if you would like to have an easier way to do this without touching HTML, look at this add-on: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.wittified.atl-announcer-confluence. Its written by my company and we assist you in creating multiple types of banners with options for targeting specific audiences.

Again, the original answer was good for out of the box functionality.
