Hi,
I am using confluence 6.15.9 and I have recently upgrade confluence from version 5.6.3
Everything is working fine. There are some pages who has excel files in .xlsx format
I am able to see the attachment and also able to download this file
But, when I use excel macro to see this page it gives me following error message
Error rendering macro 'viewxls'
com.atlassian.plugins.conversion.convert.ConversionException: com.aspose.cells.CellsException: This file's format is not supported or you don't specify a correct format.
I have some other excel files with the same format. That files I am able to see and can be attach in excel marco
But it was working in version 5.6.3. Any issue?
Regards,
Siddheshwar
Hello Siddheshwar,
Thank you for contacting us about this.
For clarification, only some of your Excel attachments are not able to display, but not all of them. Is this correct?
Do you happen to be using any Conditional Formatting in the Excel attachments that aren't displaying? I've seen a similar error due to this:
Is the error you shared something you saw in your UI or was this the message you found in your Confluence Server log file? The error being:
com.atlassian.plugins.conversion.convert.ConversionException: com.aspose.cells.CellsException: This file's format is not supported or you don't specify a correct format.
If it was just in the UI, could you check the Confluence Server logs and see if there's any more information?
Regards,
Shannon
Hi Shannon,
Thanks fro the reply.
I found that, there are some restriction is applied for each excel sheet. This we are using to restrict attachments like excel/word with outside.
If I remove these restriction then it is working fine. In confluence do we have any functionally where Confluence can bypass these restrictions?

Siddheshwar

Hello @siddhesh,
Thank you for letting me know that. I understand that this is working as expected, in that case.
I do know that in version 2.10 there were complaints that password protection was breaking viewfile macro, but this was closed as we don't have plans to change this behavior in the near future:
Could you tell me what sort of protection you were using? It's likely as intended, but I wanted to check if we at least have a workaround or feature request somewhere for you.

Shannon

Hey @Shannon S ,
This is our internal protection software, If I remove these protection and upload then it is working fine.

Hello Siddheshwar,
Thank you for confirming that. In that case, the behavior is expected. You'll need to have users download the files from Confluence to view them instead of embedding them in a page.
I hope that helps, but do let us know if you have any further questions.
Take care, and have a pleasant weekend.
Regards,
Shannon
