I have created a table in Confluence with formatted test in the descriptions. When I create JIRAS from my table, I would like to retain (at least some of) the formatting.
The destination Description field has [Wiki Style Renderer] set.
Unfortunately the whole entry comes out in a single unreadable paragraph.
How can I bring the formatting across?
Hi @Joy_Mather
Another approach is to use the Exalate for Confluence Cloud connector, which allows you to bring over a page to Jira, and to split up the stories there.
I'm with the Exalate team, which is an issue synchronization solution allowing to connect different types of issue trackers. We're currently working on a confluence cloud connector because a number of our customers would like to use the technology to publish release notes from Jira to Confluence, and collect any comments back into Jira.
This connector is in an early stage, but I can imagine how it might help to solve your use case. With the connector, you can bring over the page to your Jira, and on Jira you're able to split it up in stories in an epic. The ids can be brought back to the confluence and update the initiating page.
Note
a) this is an advanced use case which needs a feasibility assessment before starting to implement
b) whoever who is going to work on this, needs to have some good groovy script development skills

Hello Joy,
The issue creation from Confluence tables into a Jira issue will remove the formatting due to the bulk creation process. There is a similar feature request for this which would allow for content to be referenced or retained when created. You may find the feature request at JRASERVER-38416. If this is similar to your issue we would suggest you vote and watch this request to receive future updates to its status.
As a workaround, once the issues are bulk created you can manually navigate to each and update the description with the formatted content. While this may not be ideal, it would allow you to have your formatted data within your Jira issue.

This is a very disappointing answer - we were creating over 500 table entries for annually repeatable tasks and wanting to use Confluence as the master record to provide an acceptable record for our auditors. We need to put all required information into the Description field because of the limitation of not having other fields, but it is unacceptable to re-format every entry from one long string of text. We will have to go back to our previous unsatisfactory method of cloning Jira entries and using spreadsheets to track progress.
The link you provided is a JIra that is only 5 years old so we will have to wait for it to mature
