Page tree in the sidebar - not alphabetical sortable

Before the update to Atlassian Confluence Version: 6.14.3, the page tree / hierarchy in the sidebar could be order alphabetical (A-Z) and manual. Now the function is no longer selectable.
The symbol (A-Z) is no longer displayed. What can this be? I also find no attitude that could make possible.

Now it is clear what it is

Analysis

I was able to reproduce the issue in the lab using version 6.14.3, however I would like to confirm if the behaviour is exactly the same as on my side. The icon for sorting the pages (A-Z) is missing, but the link is still clickable, so if you click on the white space right next to the parent page name (where the A-Z icon is supposed to show up), the pages will sort alphabetically, this can be used as a workaround.

Conclusion

This behaviour seems to be a bug in Confluence versions 6.14.3 till 6.15.1, I was unable to reproduce the issue in newer versions, and seems to be fixed in 6.15.2, 6.15.4 and 6.15.6.

A bug ticket has been created for this issue, CONFSERVER-58516

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for contacting us. I was just in the middle of writing to you.

There was a bug a while ago that has been fixed as of 6.15.2. Prior to that, the possibility to sort is there, but you're not able to see the icon. See below for more information:

  • CONFSERVER-58030 Sort alphabetically button in the Reorder Pages page is not visible.

I am testing now in 6.15.4, and I can confirm that when the results are not in alphabetical order already, then the icon will pop up. If it's already alphabetical, it will not.

You can test by upgrading Confluence to 6.15.2 or higher and let me know if you are able to sort your pages.

As for the bug you found, I am wondering if there's just a bit of a delay when that happens, which might be the reason that it was reported as a 2nd bug. I'll find out more information about that, but I can tell you that the original bug is fixed as of 6.15.2.

Regards,

Shannon
