Hi All,
I tried installing goedit and Excellentable spreadsheet for confluence plugins for the confluence but unfortunately still not able to edit the excel sheet on the confluence. Only way working as of now is download edit and upload a new file. I also noticed that the office connector plugin(version 7.0.3) which is available with the confluence version 6.11.0 doesn't contain all the modules which were available in office connector 5.0.7. Because in the older version we were able to get an option of "edit in office" for any of the office attachments. Kindly help us in resolving it.
Thanks,
Mounica
Hi Mounica,
As of 6.11.0, Office Connector was discontinued in favor of Companion App.
Have a look below for information on how to use it:
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Shannon,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I do not see edit with option with any of the attached files though I have complete admin privileges. Kindly help me here.
Thanks,
Mounica

Mounica,
Can you confirm that you've now installed the new Companion App?
You'll get the edit option on your preview screen now, no longer in Confluence next to the file. Can you show me what options you have in your preview screen after installing the app?

Hi Shannon,
Yes I have installed Companion app on the server where the confluence is installed but not sure how to make connection between them. Or does it needs to be installed in the samw directory as confluence??
When I click on edit attachment it gives me page not found error. Click on the file name will download the file for me.
Here in the example attachment is image but its the same issue for office documents as well.
Thanks,
Mounica

Mounica,
Where is this screenshot from? Is it from the 6.11.0 instance? I attached my .doc file to a page in Confluence and when looking from an attachments macro or from the attachments page, there is no "Edit Attachment" text anymore:
Regarding the Companion App, it needs to be installed on your computer that you use to browse the Confluence site. Each user that intends on editing an Office file in Confluence versions 6.11.0 and above need to have it installed on their computer.
Once installed, they will be able to edit the file per the Edit Files documentation.

Shannon

Shannon,
Yes the screenshot is from 6.11.0 instance. Yes I have installed Companion App on my computer from where I'm browsing confluence site. I had to uninstall Go-edit plugin in order not to see the edit attachment option.
When I click on the view option its just opening the page in another window. This is how it opens up
Thanks,
Mounica

Thank you, Mounica.
I thought that was odd it was happening that way for you, so I tested it and I believe it might be a bug.
I've raised that here: CONFSERVER-56424
For the time being, you'll want to go to the page itself where the attachment is stored. You can view it either by clicking on the thumbnail of the document from the page, or by inserting the Attachments macro. This will then give you a Preview link you can use to edit the file.
Could you please try that and let me know if you have any trouble?

Shannon

Hi Shannon,
I can view the attachment like this without editing the page.
When I edit the page and try to edit attachment, this is what I'm getting
I do not have any option of editing the attachment unless I download it and make the changes and then again upload it back to confluence.
Thanks,
Mounica

Mounica,
Can you confirm that you're definitely using Confluence version 6.11.0? Also, you should not be trying to do this with the Office Excel Macro. You can just do it with the attachment on the page.
I made a video below that should help you:
Please watch the video and let me know if you have any trouble. Please note this will not work if you're not on 6.11.0 as you mentioned you were earlier.
If you still have trouble, please let me know when you might be available today for a Skype call and I can guide you through on your computer.

Shannon
