We are migrating a large Confluence installation from Linux to Windows, and Postgres to SQL Server. The new system needs to be tuned, because an import that typically takes 3 hours on the Linux server takes more than 24 hours on the Windows server.

We haven't let any of our 1200+ users on the new system yet, because we're quite sure it will collapse under the load.

Are there any KB articles on tuning for the above configuration (Windows, SQL Server)? Everything I found so far is for Linux/Postgres.

Hi @Robert Egan ,

Performance is always a huge topic.

By changing OS and database you actually changed a lot that can affect this is many ways.

I do not know if there is a complete guide from A to Z but pretty sure that first you should verify infrastructure (same resources might work slower on Windows comparing to Linux so it should be evaluated) other factors also like for example do you use SSD disc, .. etc.)..  then maybe look if there is any thing on the OS itself e.g antivirus software that always slow things up.

SQL Server is actually pretty problematic.. There is a lot of KB related to this kind of database https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/database-troubleshooting-for-sql-server-119669.html

Yeah. I became an expert on the issues mentioned in this link because we are required to use windows domain authentication.

There's a long lecture on this I had to sit through many times in 2013 (Dan practiced it on the team before delivering the talk) - it's still broadly applicable, albeit some of the tools and numbers have changed.
