URL for a Confluence server installation?

Robert E_ Schneider November 21, 2018

Hi,

I just installed a trial of Confluence on my own server and am trying to get an evaluation licence. On my.atlassian.com/license/evaluation I am asked all kind of things including a "Server ID".

In order to get that server ID I am instructed to:

"1. Log in as a Confluence administrator"

??

How do I do that?

What is the URL on my server to get to the login?
In a fresh, pure installation: what are the administrator's credentials?

Hi @Robert E_ Schneider

when installing Confluence you have a screen where it is asked that you choose the Administrator password and username, so you should already have this information.

The URL depends on where you installed Confluence: if it's on your own computer, it should be http://localhost:8090 and if it's on a server, it should be http://my-ip:8090.

Let me know if it helps,

Yes, Alexis, this helps a lot, thank you!

Fact is: the Windows installer takes you directly to the evaluation-licence-generation-page. You don't have to enter anything except for your Google credentials ;-)

In the Windows start-menu I finally found a link "Access Confluence".  That helped me too.

I believe that it would be great if these methods to access Confluence were mentioned the "Getting Started" documentation somewhere.

I then noticed that the information on the license/evaluation page is not quite correct:

When I found the "Access Confluence" button and clicked it, I was taken directly to the screen in which you find the Server ID. On this screen you can enter the licence, once you've created. And after that it takes you to the page in which you create your own admin  account.

So maybe that lincense/evaluation page should be changed to:

In a Windows environemnt:
1. Find an click the "Access Confluence" tile
2. Follow the instructions
