This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Renaming a Page
I have Edit privileges on the page (and am an Administrator). But when I click 'Edit', it doesn't give me the option to edit the Page Title, only the contents. What are the possible causes why?
Here are some questions that would be helpful to know to try and figure out what is going on.
Do you see the title? Is it greyed out? Are there any wonky characters in the page title? Could you possibly post a screenshot?
The text appears in normal font. I can see it and select it, but not edit it. There's nothing unusual about the name.

And you are positive you cannot edit it. If you click right after "Test Page" and hit backspace it doesn't change? There is no permissions setting in Confluence to restrict editing the page title.

I am having the same problem that started in last few weeks. It seems to occur when I copy a page and then try to edit title. I am able to delete but I am unable to type. If I save, I can then reopen and copy but I cant change title at first.

+1 to Sharon's comment. Whenever I copy a Confluence page, I can only paste text into the title, not type normally. Seems to also be the same if I'm editing a Jira ticket table (can't edit the filter unless I paste text). We're on Confluence Cloud.

I'm getting the same issue as Sharon and Kelsey. I can copy text into the title and I can delete (using backspace or delete) but can't type anything.

Getting the same exact behavior as Peter_Normand describes above.

I've been having this error since December last year, and recently it has started to affect my colleagues. It seems to have only started since I swapped to using the 'new editing experience' for most of my new pages and am trying to copy a page that uses the old editing format. May not be related but it was at the same time so pretty coincidental. The title cannot be edited, nor can any fields with dynamic content such as changing the JQL in a Jira plugin. The only workaround is to copy the text from a text editor and paste it into the field which writes over the content.

i have only noticed this since new editing experience. Using same browser (Chrome) as before and working the same space.

Same issue as Sharon W. described above:
It occurs when I copy a page and then try to edit title. I am able to delete (or paste) but I am unable to type. If I save, I can then reopen and modify the title but I can't change title at first.

I don't see an answer, why is it flagged as accepted? I have the same issue in 2020 as do others. Exact same.

This issue does not seem resolved. I am having the same problems as others who have posted above recently:
* I do have editing permissions
* I do see the title appear as plain, editable text in edit mode
* Interestingly, I can delete text by pressing backspace
* I cannot type new text into the field
* I CAN paste copied text into the title field, but I would not consider this a workaround to close out this bug.

Having the very same issue.

I've had this same (or at least very similar) issue since 22nd of August.
Luckily, it is only our sandbox environment, but it is stopping me from using the sandbox.
I am and admin for the software, and I seem to be the only person who is having the issue.
I can modify titles on pages created earlier, or by someone else, but I cannot personally create new pages, since it is not letting me input the title.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Can you create a page, save it, then edit it and its title?

Huh, apparently not. I'm sure I used to be able to do that. Is there a configuration setting somewhere that controls it? Or is it browser-specific (I'm on Safari)?

Can you edit the title of any page?
