×Hi I'm new to the community and to Confluence in general, so please let me know if there is another resource or place I can go to. I need to upload an Excel file to a page and have that file be editable from that page. To display the file and have the ability to edit it more or less from the page, I found the Excel macro and downloaded the Atlassian Companion app after reading this article: https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf615/edit-files-967337829.html
However, when I click the edit button, I get the following error message pictured:
I have tried removing the attachment and reuploading as xls and then re-downloading, but got a different error message indicating an HTML issue, but I'm afraid I'm not literate enough in this kind of issue to know how to fix it. Any tips?
Hi @Jonathan Johnson ,
Does the file excel file open correctly if you download it directly from the attachments page (not using the Companion app)?
You can see the file downloaded by Companion by navigating to your home directory (your username), showing hidden files (CMD + Shift + . for MacOS) and then opening the .atlassian-companion directory. Every file that is edited by Companion gets its own subdirectory, you can sort by date created or delete everything and trigger the edit process again to isolate a particular file. Do you see the excel file here?
Hi @Alex K , yes to both. Interestingly (not sure if it's related), when I click on the attachment from the attachments page, the preview never loads.
But yes, I did find the file there. What can I do from that point?

@Jonathan Johnson Do you get any error from Microsoft Excel if you open the file directly (by double clicking it) ?
Have you tried using the Companion app with a different file that you have uploaded to Confluence?

@Alex K Yes, I get that same error when trying to open from the atlassian-companion directory.
I tried just now to use the companion app to download a Word file using the Word macro. I got the following error message. I clicked no and then got the error message below it.
