Uncaught exception thrown by REST leads to article not being saved

Graham Campbell June 16, 2016

Hello!

One of my users reported trying to save an article he'd been working on all morning to update. On clicking save his changes didn't make it in, but a lot of content was nonetheless removed. Obviously this isn't ideal.

I've managed to extract this from the server logs at the time he committed his changes:

2016-06-09 12:32:34,831 ERROR [http-nio-443-exec-32] [common.error.jersey.ThrowableExceptionMapper] toResponse Uncaught exception thrown by REST service: null -- referer: <page_URL_removed> | url: /rest/watch-button/1.0/watchState/104273119 | userName: <user_name_remove> java.lang.NullPointerException

Can someone help me decode this?

Some more information: the offending article has been around for months, and continued to be updated no problems after this. It wasn't deleted or moved or copied.

Any insight on this is most welcome and appreciated.

Cheers,

G

Hi Graham,

There's a bug already fixed for this issue: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-45592

In this case you'll need to upgrade Confluence to 5.10.0 or newer in order to fix the problem.

I hope it helps! smile
