What happens when your Confluence license is bigger than your Plugin license?

We have a 250 user confluence license and also 250 user licenses for several plugins (Gliffy, LaTEX Math etc). We want to add more users to confluence, but we don't necessarily want to give the new users licenses for the plugins.

What happens when the number of users is within the confluence license but exceeds the plugin license? Does the plugin stop working for everyone? Or does everything stop working? Is there a mechanism to control which users have access to a given plugin in write mode, but allowing everyone to read content that involves that plugin?

Hi Paul,

all plugin licenses have to match the license of the base system. So it is not possible to upgrade your Confluence license without upgrading all of your plugin licenses.

If you try this, the plugins will stop working. There are some exceptions as e.g. Balsamiq-Mockup where you can have other user tiers than in your base system, but most plugins will stop working.
