Looking at adding the Companion app to our desktops but need to know what ports and protocols it uses and if any other U.S. Federal government organizations use it as part of our accreditation.

Hi @Joe Morgan ,

May I ask which version of Confluence you organisation is using? Confluence will communicate with Companion differently depending on the Confluence version.

Companion runs a local websocket server on port 31459. However this is not needed for Confluence 7.3 and above, which instead communicates with a custom protocol "atlassian-companion://". The local websocket server can currently be disabled by modifying the "companionConfig.json" file in the install directory to set:

websocketsEnabled: "false"

We will be phasing out the local websocket server in the future.

Regards,
Alex
