backup restore confluence without restrictions

Florin Moldoveanu March 21, 2018

I am attempting to do a restore from one company Confluence into another where the users are not the same. The restore was successful but no page can be accessed and requesting access does not work across instances.

How can I reset the permissions on the destination instance, or how can I export with full access rights?

Hi Florin,

It seems that this space was imported, and you will have to Recover permissions for it as you have mentioned the users are not the same from the source instance to the target instance.

Can you please Navigate to:

  1. Administration
  2. Space Permissions
  3. Here you should see the space in subject
  4. Click on Recover Permissions
  5. After this Recover Permissions button will be replaced with Manage Permissions and setup the new permissions set

If you still have any issues, I can create a case for you and investigate this further.

Cheers,

Ramona

Did you get about somewhere on this Florin ?

Florin Moldoveanu March 21, 2018

No, I  gut stuck more. I deleted the space and I tried to re-imported but I got the following error:

A space with key ****** already exists.

I would suggest to get the backend database checked - clear the content and reimport.

the database is in the cloud - no access. I cleared the content and tried again: same result

Florin - you better create a support ticket if it is in Cloud.

Florin - you should have atleast one common user id to login to the new confluence and give permissions to the rest of the new users.

there are 2 separate companies with no common infrastructure, one in UK and one in US at the end of a commercial collaboration. The received Confluence export was a zip file.

Florin Moldoveanu March 21, 2018

both parties use the Atlassian cloud
