SMTP outgoing test message always failed

Dear Sirs,

I've installed confluence 7.0.2 under Ubuntu server 18.04. Firewall has opened port 465. Parameters for connection - smtp.mail.ru , port 465, TLS authorization. When I've send test email - I see at logs that sending was unsuccessful. Please advise me what should I do?

An error has occurred with sending the test email:
com.atlassian.mail.MailException: com.sun.mail.util.MailConnectException: Couldn't connect to host, port: smtp.mail.ru, 465; timeout 10000;
  nested exception is:
 java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out

Happy to help you with this.

From your logs it's only telling us that your Confluence site isn't able to connect to your mail host at smtp.mail.ru via port 465 due to a timeout. You'll want to check with your mail server admin to see why that might be. One test you can run is by logging in directly to the server that your Confluence site is hosted on, and seeing if you can telnet to that port via smtp.mail.ru.
