Just a heads up: On March 24, 2025, starting at 4:30pm CDT / 19:30 UTC, the site will be undergoing scheduled maintenance for a few hours. During this time, the site might be unavailable for a short while. Thanks for your patience.
×Just migrated version 6.2.1 from an old local server to a new local server. Excited to see all my data is intact.
I plunged ahead and made a new space. Then I created a new page. However, I'm getting an editor timeout on the localhost. I'm at a loss for why this happens.
If Confluence is able to create a new space and add to the database of pages, why can't the editor publish a page?
How could I possibly have permissions / firewall / ... problems with the editor on my localhost? (I'm using localhost:8090)
This also occurs from other computers on the same network. They can access Confluence and browse, but they cannot Publish what they edit.
Hello Brian! Good to know that the migration was successful on your environment.
This problem with the editor can be caused by your environment settings and Collaborative editing.
You can check the following:
1- Click Cog Icon>General Settings
2- Search for Collaborative Editing in the left side panel
3- Set it as Off
4- Check if the editor now works
Also, this situation is tackled in our documentation here:
Confluence throws "The editor didn't load this time" error when trying to edit a page
This is usually caused by your proxy or firewall that does not allow WebSockets. So you could check your environment for those. Also, check if port 8091 is free in your environment. This is the port used by Synchrony for Collaborative Editing.
Let us know if this helps you out!
Thanks. Although I looked at the page you mentioned, it was not obvious that a proxy / firewall would have any effect when attempting from the localhost!

Yeah, it is not really obvious, but glad to know I was able to help you out!
Are you now able to edit pages even with Collaborative Editing on?
