I can not find the Thread Dump Action (/admin/threaddump.action) in Confluence 5.8.4 any more as described in Generating a Thread Dump
Does anybody know where/how I can generate a Thread Dump from within the Confluence admin console (not externally as described in the article above)?
Thanks,
Thomas
Hi Thomas,
Luiz is correct. Note that we do not recommend taking the thread dumps from Confluence. We recommend to use the external thread dumps most of times.
Cheers,
Rodrigo
Hi Rodrigo, As I do agree with you, that taking thread dumps with an external tool is probably the better way, not all of our customers are able to execute the scripts provided for taking external dumps. Therefore the dumps created in the admin console have to do. What is Atlassians experience with taking the dumps in the admin console vs. taking them with an external tool? Does the taking the dumps from within Confluence distort the results to such a degree that they are useless? Thanks, Thomas

Hi Thomas,
You can generate the thread dumps through the Confluence Support Zip file.
Please go to the Confluence Administration page, select Atlassian Support Tools on the left panel and then go the Support Zip tab. If you only need the Thread Dumps, you can uncheck all the other options, so you'll only have the Thread Dumps on the support zip file which will be generated.
Thanks!

LM
