update label display without a full label refresh

Hi folks - 

i have  amacro that adds labels. All is fine except it really bugs me that you cannot see the label without refreshing the page. You can of course add a page refresh in the code, but then the screen redraws. Does anybody know if there is a way of updating that part of the DOM without a screen redraw?
