I use confluence at work for team collaboration and would love to take advantage of its functionality at home as well.
If I install a trial version of confluence - without a sql DB - can I pay the $10 for my license and continue to use it without having to install sql and create a sql DB?
My tech skills don't stretch so far as to try to do the full server install.
Help?
Steve
Thanks Nic. The mention of the work install was just a reference to my trust in the system. I simply want to use the same product at home to gather all my hints and tips together for future use, so after paying for a single license, could I continue to use it on the local DB with up to about 250 articles in total over time with minimal risk?
I do daily backups which should provide a good DB copy if anything falls over.
Any other info regarding the DB failures?
Appreciate the fast response too, thank you
Steve
No, because you can't point two Confluence installations at the same database.
You can pay the $10 and install your own system at home, but you will need a database for it and it will be separate to your work one. (It ships with an internal database, so you don't strictly need one, but that internal one is not suitable for production, as it can fail catastrophically without warning)
