Columns empty in filter results

We are running Jira Data Center and have recently experienced specific columns (i.e., fields) appearing empty in filter results, but the fields do have data.  When we refresh the browser, the columns are populated with the correct data. These fields are Text Field (multi-line) and contain a lot of text in them.  Any ideas what may be causing this error?  No info in the logs, either.
