Hi everyone,
We’re excited to let you know that in early July, we’ll begin rolling out a new capability to control Group Permissions in Focus. This new feature gives your teams more flexibility and control over what each group of users can do in the app.
This change is part of our ongoing efforts to support stronger data governance and drive accountability while keeping your teams' experience simple and seamless.
Group-level permission settings will be available in Focus admin settings, allowing App admins to tailor what each group can do in Focus.
You’ll be able to control which groups can:
Create focus areas and build out the structure of those areas
Connect goals and work items to a focus area
See sensitive financial data like Funds
Archive and delete focus areas
Export focus area data
Export or delete views
When we approach the release, we will post again here with a link to our detailed support documentation, as well as via our release notes.
No action is needed right away. All current user experiences and access will remain uninterrupted.
Going forward, as new groups are assigned a role for the Focus app by Org Admins or User Access Admins, the Focus App admin will need to configure that group’s permissions in Focus admin settings before those users can access the app.
This ensures that new users only gain access once their permissions have been explicitly set, helping teams stay aligned and secure.
We know that you all want more control, and this is just the beginning. Our next step is more advanced permission capabilities that include:
Determining who can take certain actions on a specific focus area, like view and edit
Restricting access to focus areas to keep sensitive priorities and investments private until they are ready for a wider audience
📣 We want your input! Let us know what permission controls would make Focus even more useful for your team.
Thanks for being part of the Focus community!
