Hello to all from the Land down under

Newish Jira admin (2months plus )for a start-up AI software company (20 years in IT, Robotics R&D)

Live in Sydney Australia but from Denver Colorado USA(miss the climate of the USA  )

Love to create Robotics and other cutting edge tech, Gym junkie, love cars and photography, Unreal Engine 5 Dev, Fusion 360 modeling.

Travel around the world when it's open, mostly Asia

The best thing about Jira:

  1. It's is a global brand so the skills can transfer
  2. It works once you figure out the bugs and how to do the setup after someone else messed it up
  3. Great support team
  4. Works well for Project teams in Agile etc

The Problems with Jira SD

  1. Plenty lol
  2. Not a pretty portal or functional interface
  3. something so simple requires 3 steps
  4. Not able to configure the portal to match the company website(custom site not the minimal config )HTML, CSS
  5. Many other software packages are a much better interface than Jira
  6. Little bit buggy
  7. No Proforma yet!
  8. Not much is for the cloud in the marketplace and if it exists it costs too much
  9. Security is not laid out easy out of the box

Hope to learn a lot more. its been a trial by fire learning so far

But that's ok. much better to guide the process from scratch

No pets anymore

Regards

Troy

Good morning all,

I'm Mel (Melissa) and I live out in the middle of nowhere, in an itty bitty town in Minnesota.  Its a balmy -29 (Fahr) right now.

I enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, reading and Spartan races.

I am a baby admin and just starting out.  I have a great tutor at work but would love to be better.  I hate having to ask so many questions.  I don't feel I can always find what I need doing searches.  And it seems super odd that alot of what I need to do I can't do in "bulk" and need to do one at a time...maybe I'm missing something.  I'm hoping this group will be a help :)

Hi;:
I'm Joel Dubow and I'm new to this group. I'm working on using Jira to connect to the Cloud for the purpose of managing multi-location water utilities. I know what I want to do, but how to do it securely is what I need to learn.

Howdy!  Dave here.

Live and work out of Chicago for now (looking to move south with my wife soon)

Outside of work, I run a photography and media production company, play some great VR, love fishing and cooking.

Best thing is enabling organization for people's work

Challenges in an agile world is keeping what projects are in use organized and what projects need to be archived due to lack of activity.

Looking to learn new tricks and tips for automation and who knows what else.

4 cats and 2 new guys below.

Hi everyone,

Charles Mott here, I work remotely for Whirlpool Global Information Systems.  I'm located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, near Lake Superior.

I will be the admin for Jira Cloud and Jira Align products at Whirlpool.  Looking forward to sharing and learning through this community.

I have a large garden that keeps me busy, especially this time of year, but I enjoy it.  I am a certified firearms safety and concealed carry instructor, and I help run the range at our local sportsman club.  I am also a chess player, if anyone wants to challenge me we can set up a "Chess by Post" game using the app.

My dogs are getting older, so they sleep a lot.  The lab is behind me now.  I'll get some pics posted soon.

Have a great day and be safe.

Charles

Hello everyone,

Mark from the SF Bay Area. I started my journey into cloud services and SaaS ops about 5 years ago and love the changes this brings to IT services infrastructure. From Cloud apps to IAM, and Radius in the cloud it's a whole new ball game and way of doing IT. User self service is another area I enjoy working on and in, this helps put all the automation of SaaS to good use and frees up IT teams to work on larger projects.

I enjoy racing Miata's and other fun trackable cars. Live music and getting out of doors as much as possible are great ways to refresh as much as possible.

Mark

Good day, all!  I'm from the heart of the Bluegrass... Lexington, KY.

I've been a Scrum Master for more than 10 years now, an Agilist for closer to 20 years, and have been on the Atlassian platform for coming up on 3 years now.  I'm ACP-620 certified, have been blessed to attend the last two Team events in Las Vegas.

I'm one of two Org Admins for Twinspires.com; we manage ~200 users with 8-12 delivery teams, depending on when you look.  I personally am Scrum Master for two core development teams.  Twinspires is the online presence of Churchill Downs, Inc. - the Kentucky Derby folks - we are an ADW (Advanced Deposit Wagering) platform, offer pari mutuel wagering on horse and greyhound racing around the world (and no, I don't have any good race tips :D )

I enjoy the outdoors - fishing, hunting, shooting, riding ATV's, hanging out at the beach, boating, and just being in nature.  I'm also a musician - I play bass guitar in our church worship band.  I've been playing for 25 years now, and trumpet before/during that too - music has been a life-long obsession.  I sing when they let me... which - these days - isn't very often since I'm typically slappin' da bass.

All our pets have crossed the rainbow bridge, unfortunately; we live vicariously through our neighbors dogs as they walk the neighborhood.  Perhaps some day in the future we'll adopt a couple of retired racing greyhounds.

Hello @Troy Edmonds @Melissa Koltes @Ed Pike @Joel Dubow @Dave Markowski @Daniel E Medina @Randy O_Neal @suresh babu @mark.harper (and to anyone I may not have tagged!)

I am a member of the Jira product marketing team and wondering if any of you would be willing to spend 30-45 mins with me to share product feedback. This feedback will be instrumental to the Jira product roadmap and how we think about improving the experience for our users. As an admin, your perspective is incredibly valuable to us.

Please feel free to email me directly at croberts@atlassian.com to setup time or drop your email address here and I can follow up with you.

Thank you and I look forward to spending time!

Cheers,

Corinne

Hi All, Happy and Glad to be here with such experts like you

Sha Aquino February 28, 2024

Hi Everyone!

My name is Sha and I am from Manila, Philippines! :)

I enjoy watching TV shows, cooking, and reading anything interesting outside work. Well sometimes watching tv shows I already watched while working so there is just something in the background..

I have been the only the Jira Admin for our team for more almost 4 years now, and I have been able to support and help our 1000+ users with all their Jira needs both on server and cloud instances. We are in the middle of our gruesome migration to the cloud to drop our server instance and have mainly cloud instances.

I started with only basic to intermediate Jira experience and somehow I keep evolving as new issues/requests arise. The more complicated and out of Jira request the better.

I learned basically every nook and cranny of the base system and then got into extending our features using Scriptrunner. I did not even know how to use Groovy when I started but then now, whenever there is a need to automate or customize something, what I need to do just automatically pops into my head even though we are still just talking about requirements.

It is really busy all the time, new projects and requests all the time. Some with super tight deadlines, but I do love being the Jira admin. I get to help our team lessen their project management burdens. It is always fulfilling whenever you get that thank you because you helped them automate a tedious part of their job.

Will still be solo for the upcoming years, I think. Still busy all the time but definitely evolving. First it was groovy and now I am working toward expanding my knowledge on the new Jira Cloud REST APIs plus I try to squeeze in my review for the Jira Cloud Admin Atlassian certification and hopefully someday get certified. (Any tips to pass would be greatly appreciated.)

Thanks for reading! Hope someone feels the same :)

Some silly but cute pics of my babies attached to melt your hearts :)
