In our area of the business, we need different information from different teams to help triage and consider Ideas as they come into our Jira Discovery Project inbox.
As a result, the description field needs different templates. I can only see a one template fits all approach, regardless of Type.
An automation to retrospectively pull in a template based on Type won't work as the creators only have creation rights, not editing. We, therefore, have to be specific about the info we need upfront.
I cannot see any Rule that will help at Create stage, or any formatting options (like an expander) that really achieves what we need.
Any thoughts, clarification or ideas greatly appreciated!
Hi @Nick Loe-Startup , we're currently working on supporting different configurations for the idea creation form (including the description template) per Type, which should hopefully solve your concern.

+1 for this option - Great news, it is in development.
I thought about this a while back, and it would be helpful.
It would also be helpful to ensure that each idea type can appear in a specific view (which might already be possible - I've not looked). Please include if it's not. That way, we can pipe ideas into specific views.
