I'm a long time JIRA user, but new to JSM and OpsGenie. I'm working on my first project using these tools. I'm trying to understand what impact marking an Incident as Major has on an alert in OpsGenie, and I'm not seeing anything at all that has changed. Is this right?
The way I have my integration set up, every JSM Incident fires an alert. What I want to understand is what is updated on that alert when the incident is marked Major? If nothing, are there recommended approaches to handle this so the alert is updated / escalated?
Thanks!
Hey Noah,
You're right, marking an Incident as Major indeed does not have any effect on the alert. For more information on the workings of Major Incidents feel free to read the following documentation: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/mark-an-incident-as-major/
Best regards,
Thanks for the confirmation. This seems like an area where if there aren't already feature requests to provide more functionality on OpsGenie / JSM integration for Major Incidents, there should be. Do any feature requests exists you can share with me that I can follow?

@Noah Miles I was not able to find any feature requests that matched what you are asking for. I would suggest submitting one. https://jira.atlassian.com/issues/?jql=project%3DOPSGENIE%20AND%20type%3DSuggestion%20AND%20statusCategory!%3DDone%20
