Hello Jira Community,

I wonder if there is a way in Jira to manage user devices (Computers/Phones). I want to create a request type to retire/replace users' devices.

If yes, How can I import a list of devices in a CSV/Excel format?

Kind Regards
Marcel

Hey @Marcel_Prudente ,

Like the others say what you are describing is Asset Management. Atlassian used to have a plugin for it called Insight which has been renamed to "Assets" to better reflect the intent of the module.

It has also been integrated in the product and no longer as a separate plugin.

On cloud it comes with the Premium subscription of Jira Service Management.

You can indeed use a CSV as a source to import the devices and then using Automation have the system create issues based on a retirement/warranty expired date.

I second everything others have said so far.

Assets as a functionality comes with a steep learning curve: from comprehending it's concepts, through creating a scheme, defining object types, attributes, to linking it to Jira and actually importing the data you have.

Cost- and functionality-wise, you may find other options on the Atlassian Marketplace. Search for asset management or inventory.

If you have Insight you you can create a object schema and import your device list which is in CSV/Excel format as object set unde the newly created object schema in Jira.

This Atlassian document describes the import process of object sets using in CSV/Excel  spreadsheets.

Thank you all for the answers. But at this stage, we are at Standard Plan and we are not planning to add any other add-on cost.
