Hi Team,
We are using JSM server of version 4.20.12 and as per the License purchase option, the maintenance expires on 14th Feb 2024.
- Is it recommended to move to JSM Cloud in future or the JSM server option is continued?
- If we have to move to the JSM Cloud, what are the next steps?
- Is there any documents that helps with the migration data from JSM server to Cloud?
Thanks,
Suhas
To get the sandbox server for testing the available feature, should we contact the Atlassian support or is there any direct contact we can reachout?
As Atlassian has made it clear they are cloud-first I would highly recommend moving the cloud. That being said it is not right for everyone. Before making this decision I would recommend looking into important factors like security, cost, available apps, and feature parity.
To help I've written a blog post highlighting the costs of DC vs Cloud here: https://blueridgeconsultants.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BRCP/blog/2023/01/30/16810009/Cost+Analysis+of+Atlassian+Data+Center+vs+Atlassian+Cloud
As for the migration itself, Atlassian has a tool called JCMA that is for this very task. Here is a good starting place for what the tool can do and how to configure it:
https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/use-the-jira-cloud-migration-assistant-to-migrate/
If you need any assistance or further info feel free to reach out.
Thanks.

Hi @ssuhas91 , all server products are discontinued (EOL, unsupported) by February 2024.
So yes, moving to the Cloud is strongly recommended. The sooner you start the assessment, the better.
