Is it possible to give customers the ability to sort the columns in Jira Customer Service Portal?
If so, how do I enable this for the customers?

I have solved this requirement with a plugin: "Advanced Portal Reports for Jira Service Management"
There is no way to do this in the default application.
I believe there is an add-on that alllows searching called MyRequest plugin here.
