We have had portal forms used here for last 6 months and didn't see this issue.
A specific field is not visible ( only label is visible) on Initial load of the screen. Since its mandatory field, the form doesn't allow to submit.
However, after we notified this, if we refresh the page again as soon the page is loaded with fields, the specific filed is visible and we are able to proceed to submit after filling in. Looks like caching issue only for this specific field.
seems like a bug on 8.20.6 and service management 4.20.6, so I updated jira to 8.20.8 and SM to 4.20.8 and the issue no longer occurs.
we are also seeing this issue on service desk portal create screen. Need to refresh to be able to view the field and input values to proceed. We recently upgraded to Jira 8.20.6 so might be a bug in that version.

We are also having the same issue. No custom scripts or anything. Happens with all browsers.

Not normal. I've seen similar behaviour when using a buggy script, but the entire field was hidden, including its label. Have you checked it in different browsers? Logs? It will help us if you share a screenshot.
