Asset management Asset Inventory in Jira Service management

Christian Menghi August 13, 2021

Hello Good afternoon,

due to my lack of asset management currently in Jira, I´m planning to create a project for such purpose, and the link it to a project for requests/incidents...

Create a form or screen and flows for transitioning... this last case is not much of a fuzz since different statuses, or stages, assinged, WIP, Waiting on external.., resolved, etc..

Is there any template for such purpose I could use ? Any one accomplished so ? How?

Any template to share so I could work it around ?

Is either this or go to some GLPI or GLPI kind of open software which covers all aspects , wthout the need to purchase extra features..

Thanks in advance for any help.

We have released a new app AssetIT - IT Asset Management for Jira https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1228867/assetit-it-asset-management-for-jira, maybe you should take a try.

Hi Christian,

I recommend to have a look at STAGIL Assets since it is the only asset solution that does not use alien new object types but leverages default Jira functionalities.

Therefore the interface is familiar already to all users and it is highly compatible with other apps and works super with scripts and automations solutions. Also it has strongest workflow, permission and notification capabilities and most custom field types available.

You can request a free demo under support@stagil.com.

Best regards
Björn

Hi @Christian Menghi

it will depend on if you are using Jira Server (Service Management to be specific) or Jira Data Center (also here, Service Management will be required).

Like Bart said earlier since version 4.15 Insight is bundled with Jira Service Management.
So the assumption is now you are on a different version number and/or not using Jira Data Center - Service Management.

Could you please confirm on both?

Thanks in advance!

Daniel

Hi daniel,

I´m using Jira docker version....for service management and software..7.13

Perhaps I shoud go to server before cloud, so I can do a bit of cleanup first.

Cheers.

Assuming 7.13 is referring to your Jira version it is too old - in cloud it would be also available (just adding this as you are touching cloud in the last sentence).

Hi @Christian Menghi ,

Is the Asset Management that is provided by Insight (bundled in JSM since 4.15 release) not working for you here? And if so, can you explain why so we can improve it?

Thanks,
Bart

Hi Bart,

thanks for your headsup... I have no idea if such feature is in our platform... at least not to our knowledge... Where should I find it ? Is it possible that it was never part of our Solution of JIRA SM and JIRA SW ?

Thanks
