Automation: Wrong Issue Cloned on change of Resolution

I created a simple automation that clones any issue with the label "Clone".  Unfortunately, it only clones one previously cloned issue, not the issue I am moving to Done. In fact, it looks like it is cloning the last cloned issue, not the current issue.

My automation is:

  • When value changed for Resolution
  • Resolution is one of Done
  • Labels contains any of Clone
  • Then: Clone issue into Same Project

I understand you automation rule is not working as it was supposed to, right? Could you share a screenshot of your automation rule or say if it look like this one? Screen Shot 2022-07-01 at 12.09.14.png

If it does not look like yours, I think you need to try and edit yours on the 3rd step like this:

Could you please try and let me know if it works? If it does not, I'll be glad to look for other solution!

I don't have a field called Clone, only a label value. So not sure how to create "Clone from the current issue"

Hi Daniel! It’s nice to hear from you again! 

 

I suggest you change your automation rule to:

  • When: Value changes for Status 
  • Status is one of Done
  • Labels contains any of Clone
  • Then: Clone issue into Same project
  • Select: Choose files to set… then Labels
  • Labels: Clone
  • Then save and publish the automation rule.

 

Try following these steps and create a new issue and see if it’s cloning the right one.

Thank you so much, that worked!! Not sure if my error was using resolution instead of status, or not resetting the label, or what!

Hi @Daniel G_ Sinclair ! I'm glad it worked!

 

I hope you having a great day, the main problem was "RESOLUTION" value to "DONE" and "STATUS" value to "DONE" are not the same thing in the workflow thus you can have the file value "Resolution" to done and the status not necessarily be done.
