Ticket with sub-tasks

Is there a way the ticket count can not include the sub tasks?  We have a couple of processes that by counting the sub tasks it over inflates the counts.

What are you using to count the issues. Generally if you’re using the dashboard with gadgets these are driven by your filters. If your filter excludes your sub tasks then they won’t be counted.
