Add components to create screen of project

Az July 3, 2018

Hello, I am on JIRA Server and am having a bit of an issue with components. I've added components to a project. Now I need to ensure that issues can be added to these components.

I would like the user to have the ability to do this on issue creation and on the issue page. Currently, I don't see the components field on the create issue page. Using the 'where is my field' button I get this:Field config.png

However, if I click on the linked field configuration, the component is set to show up

I have re-indexed the project but still no luck. How can I rectify this?

Hello,

You need to go to the project settings and open the Fields tab. Then open the field configuration in the edit mode, find the Component Field and make the field visible. Or you can just follow the links in the permission helper.

Be aware that if this field configuration scheme is used by multiple projects then the Component field will be visible in all such projects.

@Alexey Matveev that's odd. The permission helper did not take me to that page. It took me to the page I included screenshots of it in my original post.

But this worked. Thanks!

Bz,

Fields will not show on an issue unless they have a value.  If you have components on the project, you can add the field to your create screen of your project.

Project Settings -> Screens -> Create issue screen.

Then add the field "Component/s".

You should then have it on your create issue screen.  If it shows up as components, but does not allow you to pick any, check and make sure the components are added to the project correctly.

Hope this helps!
