BigPicure Gantt displays issues wrongly parented

Hi there,

We found that BigPicture 8.53.0 on Jira DC 10.3.8 had issues loading the plan in Gantt view. The user opened the plan and had a single custom filter on that was set to select a programme increment value configured in a custom field.

User made several attempts to lookup a specific epic and its children.

Our current issue hierarchy is defined top to bottom as: Theme - Initiative - Epic - Story - Subtask

By performing multiple searches, the user noticed, that said epic sometimes has themes and initiatives parented to them in the view, along with a list of other epics, instead of the 10 tasks that show in the epic's issue view.

BigPicture task hierarchy is set top to bottom as: Parent - Child Link - Epic - Subtask

Parent-Child Link is top level because out Themes and Initiatives are homed in a separate project.

After several tries, the user eventually got the correct issue list in the issue tree view and when I searched for the same epic and the themes/epic shown in the screenshots when the error happened, I could not replicate the problem and got the correct view every time. There were no relevant issue links populated on the issues either where I could say perhaps a dependency was shown in the tree view rather than on the gantt chart.

Anybody seen similar glitches? If you did, did you find out what can be improved to avoid this happening? Would this be a performance or browser related problem? Unsure where to start with this one, any pointers would be great!

Thank you!

Hi @Anita Szabo

I understand the Appfire support team solved this under the following support request: https://appfire.atlassian.net/browse/SUPPORT-237973

Could you confirm so we can consider this inquiry as answered?

Thanks!

Hi Pablo, support files were required to suggest any issues that may cause this type of problem which i could not provide, as I was unable to reproduce the scenario the user experienced. The ticket was simply closed because of this. There was no actual trouble shooting.

Thank you

I appreciate your update, Anita. Please open a new support request on the Appfire portal if you can reproduce and capture a support zip so our team can investigate further.

Have a fantastic day!

- Pablo
