CSV import error

Here is the error:

Hi,

I had the same issue. Oddly enough, it only occurred if I imported the CSV file via the admin import/export and not the all-user CSV import. After a lot of headscratching, it turned out that there were multiple custom fields with the same name, so I manually edited the saved configuration file to point it to the right custom field id. I'm perplexed as to why it just collapses entirely without giving any clue as to which column it might be. In previous occurrences where the config was wrong due to multiple fields with the same name I got an error like this

2019-01-22 13:31:12,886 WARN - Cannot add value [ {null=XXX} ] to CustomField YYY in Issue with summary 'XXXMASKEDXXX'. Exception Message: null
java.lang.NullPointerException

That is all it gives? 

Import errors are usually much longer and contain some additional information used to troubleshoot the issue. It could be a myriad of different issues causing the importer to fail and without more info I dont think i could answer this.

I'm sorry, I thought I copied the whole thing.  It was something about a field config.  I'll see if I can recreate it again, It happened 3 times and I finally gave up.  I have done scores of imports in the past and never saw this error before.  I think Jira is trying to change too much, too fast.  It's maddening.  I'm trying to set up a pilot and this latest of a string of Jira unexpected behavior has really put me behind.
