When we attach a file to an issue Jira automatically adds a comment with a link to the file. Can we disable it?
Reason:
We use the plugin "Smart attachments" to hide some files from customers. So when we attach a file customers don't see it but they can see a comment and get notification about that. It might cause misunderstandings from them.
Thank you.
My first thought was that it is not the default behaviour. However, the latest JSD versions are indeed auto-commenting after attaching files. I haven't found any reference to this "auto-commenting" feature as yet.
I did notice that, for the latest versions (tested on 4.9.0), you can disable it when you disable the module service-desk-comment-field under the Jira Service Desk app. Manage apps > Jira Service Desk > service-desk-comment-field - which ends up disabling the "Share with customer"/"Comment internally" options as well.
When compared with earlier versions, 4.4.2 for example, even with the same module enabled, it does not present the same behaviour - which makes me believe that it might be a new thing bundled with the service-desk-comment-field module.
Anyways, I'm now interested in knowing what others have experienced around this 😉
It doesn't work for us. After disabling the module service-desk-comment-field "Smart attachments" plugin doesn't work correctly. I need to find another solution. @Ivan Lima thanks anyway.

Hi @Michael Smith, I finally figured out that this has been captured as a bug through the Atlassian ticket system. The current option to disable this behaviour is through the steps I mentioned before.
Therefore, you can add yourself as a watcher to the ticket JSDSERVER-6945 so that you can receive the notifications and updates moving forward.
Cheers.

That's not default jira behavior so yes.

Yeah you probably have some listeners set up on that instance that are adding the comments, definitely not a default behaviour.

It's strange. I just installed clear Jira on my computer without any plugins and it's the same. Jira 8.8
