Can I hide a Work Item type on a Work Item Scheme

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if there is a way to hide a work item type from users without removing it from the Work Item Scheme.

In this way I want to prevent users from creating new items of this specific type without removing the item type from the scheme and losing all the existing items of this type that have been created and completed in the past.

Thanks,

Dave

To answer your question directly, there's no way to natively hide certain issue types for certain users in JIRA. You can do some sort of hack using javascripts on the page but that is just plain messy.

Also, removing that issue type in the Issue Type Scheme won't delete all the existing issues with that issue type in your project so no worries there :)

Hi Gab, thanks for the input and clarification. Whilst the issues are not deleted it does insist that I move them to a different issue type as shown in the attached screenshot. This I cannot do for record keeping reasons. I'm guessing then that I cannot bypass this feature.Issue move.jpg

Thanks,

Dave
