Can JIRA send email notifications when updates are available for plugins?

Can JIRA be configured to send email notifications when updates are available for plugins? Having to go to "Administration" to see if there are any plugin notifications is a bit of a pain in the neck - after I have everything setup I don't go to "Administration" very often.

You can subscribe from the plugin page by clicking on the Watch option. You will receive an email alert everytime that a new version of the plugin is available.
