Can text field change to a code field?

Hello, 

Created couple of multi - text custom fields and would like to posts only codes in there. It seems like posting codes in multi text format custom fields does look confusing and not well. Is it possible to use code friendly format for these fields instead of text ? If yes, what would be it and how can i change multi-text format to it?

There is no "code" field in Jira, so you would need to find or write an App to provide one, then migrate the data from the old field (there's a database hack for this, but only if the new field type stores data in exactly the same way as the new field type.
