Can you attach an excel spreadsheet to a release?

I am wanting to attach an Excel spreadsheet with a release checklist to a release within Jira. Is this possible? I know that I can attach the spreadsheet to the actual issues and to a confluence page, but didn't know if it was possible to attach it to the actual release?
