Changing Estimation From T Shirt Sizes to Story Points

Hello, 

Our teams currently estimate in t shirt sizes. We want to change to estimating with numbers as our story points, but I am unsure how this will affect tickets in the backlogs estimated with t shirt sizes. Does anyone know? Will we have to reestimate?

You can't really estimate in t-shirt sizes (unless you've set it up as a numeric field).  It's just another field to JIRA, it can't do anything with XL/L/M/S/XS, so moving to story points makes a lot of sense as you'll get all the benefits of estimates in your reporting.

You will have to re-estimate, putting story points on your issues.  You can use the t-shirt size to help inform it.  Stopping the use of the t-shirt size won't do you any harm though, the data will be left as it is.
