I was able to do this by downloading the extension Rest Web Service Client for Google Chrome and sending a PUT request using the following info:
URL:
https://<companyname>.atlassian.net/rest/api/2/issue/<issue-#>
BODY:
{"fields": {"duedate": null}}
I think you mean 'delete the issue's duedate'. You simply delete the value in the field and hit return.

Odd. Can you try another browser? It works on safari and Firefox for me. I will try chrome and see. Server or cloud?

Both Safari and Firefox do the same. I cannot clear/delete out the Due Date input field. I can type another date but "delete" does nothing. Using cloud.

Ok, sorry, I originally missed what you were trying to do. You are wanting to blank out the date on the detailed view from the "default" Kanban board. You cannot do that. Those boards are very limited and I rarely use. I recommend you create your own Kanban board and from there you certainly can accomplish this. You can also go into the specific issues view screen and change from there.

Why would this board be limited? We created a new Business Project using the template and this is what was set up.

It is simply the way the default boards are designed. They are meant to be simple tools. They didn’t use to exist at all. If a user wanted a board they would create a Kanban or Scrum board. The ability to do this still exist and provides a great deal of configurabity. I think you will find them more useful.
One last thing, I see you are using the business project. If you create a Kanban board for it you will need to set the location to your profile rather than the project itself. Then you can add a link on the project sidebar that points to the board. This makes it more readily accessible.
Hope that helps!

This is unbelievably frustrating.

+1 that this is stupid / frustrating. Why allow folk to create and change due dates but not delete them? This feels more like a UX oversight / bug than a deliberate design choice.

We need a way to clear due date fields.
