Create a task without editing a page

Is there a way to create a task without editing a page?  I'd like to have a macro associated with a button I can click to add a task instead of having to edit a page.  This would add it to my task list automatically.

I am just trying to figure out how to make a standard task and assign it to my staff? Nothing fancy.
