Creating a Complex Component object

Brian March 18, 2019

We are using the JIRA Cloud version and a project lead wants to move their Lotus app to JIRA.

The app has a form to request a widget. There is a section where you can add one or more Parts.  There is a Parts database that kinda/sorta is like our Components but has about 2 dozen attributes, like Location, Size, Hazardous, Color, etc.

The Assignee would be able to retrieve the details of each part when they review the record.

How in the world would you implement this functionality in JIRA?

Hi @Brian,

Most likely through an asset management / CMDB app. Although not many, there's a few options available or coming to Jira Cloud. Have a look at the Atlassian Marketplace

It really is slim pickings in the Marketplace.  And most are connectors to 3rd party systems.

I thought maybe going down the sub-task route, creating a Part issue sub-type.  I was even looking at some custom object with user-defined attributes.
