Hi,

We have a custom field which is not being used in any Screen but still being used in different Jira Issues and Project.

Please refer to the screenshot below:

 Untitled.jpg

We have a custom field Union Affiliation which is not used in any screen but when we search using filter we get 8291 issues where this field is being used and this number is increasing continuously.

The strange thing is we cannot see the custom field on the screen of any project/issues but able to find custom field in search (JQL).

Not sure how to figure it out as it is being updated in background.

Hi @Vishal Srivastava,

Looks like you have set default value for this field. so whenever the new issue is created automatically the field value will be set. Please check.

Hi @Sreenivasaraju P,

Yes, We have set default value for this field, but need to understand the reason if we are not using it in any screen, how it is being used in Jira Issues? so what is the mechanism behind it.

Screens are for view or updating the ticket. Even though you haven't added this field on any screen while creating the request , along with the all fields (which are on create or which user selected while crating ) , this field also will get  set.

If you are not using field , you can delete or you can remove the default value.
