Email Issue Post Function Conditional Execution not working

I can get the Email Issue post function to send an e-mail during the transition it is coded in, but cannot get it to work when I check the Conditional Execution check box and my script returns a True value.  Everything seems to point to the post function being run, but it is not.  What am I missing?

Is that custom field present in every issue.

check for a null value being returned for customfieldvalue

Thanks for the reply, Tom.  I think you may have given me a thread to follow.  I am performing this post function on a subtask, but the value of the field I am testing may not yet be available in the subtask from the parent.  I think I can fix my problem.
