Epic shows callculated sum of loged work as custom field

Hello girls, guys and diverses in the cumminity

We have a Project in which a certain group cannot see issues of type task (security level), that also means that they are not able to see any work log in the epic.

Is there a way to create a custom field for an epic, calculating the sum of estimated and logged work of tasks and showing it without the permission to see tasks ?

That way the mentioned user group would be able to see a certain progress in theire epics without seeing the actual tasks.

Any kind of idear or solution is highly appreciated

You may want to investigate a solution proposed by Jamie using Scriptrunner.  

Unsure if the script will bypass the issue security layer though. :(
