Error while exporting as excel in JIRA

It says the file you are trying to open is .xls is in a different format than specified by the file extension. verify that the file is not currepted and is from a trusted source before opening the file.

What will be the workaround for this ? Will it be a JIRA issue or Office Issue. We are using JIRA 6.2 and Office2010

That is an Excel warning rather than JIRA.  JIRA is generating xml that says "I'm a spreadsheet" in it, so that spreadsheets know that they can and should be able to open them.  Your excel is set up to warn you that the file extension differs from the actual content.  I'm sure you can turn that off .
