Extend the JIRA i18nHelper

Hi, 

I'm writing a JIRA server app and I was wondering whether it is possible to extend the native i18nHelper.
E.g. I want to perform some string manipulations (e.g. placeholder replacement) on the values of the properties before they are returned (and replaced by the js/soy transformers)
