Does anyone know if the refresh interval that can be set on most Atlassian gadgets is set to one of the following

a) refresh the information at the set interval and do not refresh the data on a page refresh

b) refresh the information at the set interval and also when the page is refreshed

b) - to be precise, each gadget is really it's own 'page'. When you refresh you refresh within the gadget. When you refresh the whole page everything gets refreshed.
