Gadget to show status over time?

Is there a build-in gadget to do this? I simply want a chart showing total # of tickets (in a filter) in a particular status over time? x-axis = time, y axis = # of tickets in a chosen state

Two dimensional filter statistics doesn't seem to have any time options for the y axis.

There isn't a built-in gadget in JIRA that shows this, but our add-on -- Arsenale Dataplane -- is designed for exactly this sort of historical reporting in JIRA. Dataplane is a commercial product.

Here's how easy it is to set up in JIRA with Dataplane:

• select the Issue Values Snapshots by Date report (see our Guide to Reports for other options)
• select the statuses you're interested in
• select your desired filter or project, and select "Status (Historical)" for the value to plot

Done! Here are some screenshots of the resulting dashboard gadget, the report results, and the configuration. In this example I'm plotting multiple statuses at the same time to see the breakdown each month. I've left off Open and Closed issues since they dominated the results, but those could just as easily be included.
