Having multiple options in a column on a workflow?

I am seriously hoping this is a simple fix and I am just being a Jira idiot. I have set up my workflow, but would like to have a couple different options within a column based on the transition. So, for example, in the "Closed" option which would make the issue DONE, we'd like to be able to drop it into a "Done" option or a "Canceled" option. I've seen this before and cannot figure out how to replicate it.

Hi Sloane,

you can map more than one status to a column on a board. If an issue is able to transition from its current status to more than one status in that column you will see different "zones" in that column to drag the issue on. And finally, transition to the target status.

Best, Max

Hi Max - These "zones" are not appearing within the columns. That's why I didn't know if I wasn't doing something correctly.

Okay, two things:

  1. you made sure the issue is able to transition to all the available statuses in that one column?
  2. you're not trying to move the status into a different status within the same column? Because that is not possible.

Best, Max

Thanks! This did help. I was hoping that I could base it on transitions rather than status. I wish I could post a screen shot of what I'm needing to do but I cannot pull it off my server.  Our first status is open and we have a transition from open to closed that is labled as "CANCELED" so I wanted the option to have CANCELED and CLOSED in the CLOSED column.
